What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers treatment involves injecting a medically developed solution under the skin with a fine needle to enhance facial features and plump and fill lines, grooves or sunken areas. We only use high quality products such as Juvederm. Administered correctly by a medical professional, dermal fillers can subtly smooth, soften, contour and tone the skin; restore youthful plumpness and enhance and define your features.

How does it work?

Profhilo® is a form of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) that is injected in to 5 areas of the face for maximum diffusion of the product in to the deeper tissue layers, a small amount of Profhilo® is then injected in to the superficial subcutaneous layer.

Is it safe?

The treatment is very safe, although there is always a small element of risk with any procedure. During your initial FREE consultation with our fully qualified Dentist - she will discuss all the risks and benefits prior to treatment.

When will I see results?

Improvement will be visible a short time after first treatment, with the skin more hydrated and glowing. Following the second treatment there will be improvement in the skin texture and tone, with optimal results visible within 6 to 8 weeks following the second treatment.

Am I suitable for treatment?

Our experienced Dentist will always perform a thorough medical consultation prior to any procedure to ensure your suitability and to reduce the risk of any unwanted side effects. A full assessment of your skin, concerns and expectations will be carried out and we will discuss if this procedure is suitable to meet your treatment expectations

Is the procedure painful?

You will experience minimal discomfort and Profhilo® has no downtime. A topical aesthetic cream is applied to the area prior to treatment and ice can also be used to numb the skin.

How long is this effective for?

Treatment results will typically last 6 months, with long-lasting hydration and smoother, tighter skin. To maintain results a top-up treatment is recommended between 6 to 12 months.

Before treatment

Before we start your treatment procedure, you will have the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have, and once completely satisfied this is the right treatment for you a consent form will be signed. We will take photographs of the treatment area to enable us to review the effectiveness of treatment. If there are any active skin infections, cold sores or you are generally unwell treatment will not be administered and will be rescheduled for a later date. If you feel that you need to discuss any illnesses or medications we ask you to contact the Practice prior to your appointment.

After your treatment

Immediately after the procedure, there may be some swelling, redness or bruising, which may become more apparent over the next 24-48 hours. Despite this you should be able to carry on with normal activities. Further advice post treatment is as follows:
> Avoid excessive alcohol, strenuous exercise, sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms and extremes of cold or heat for 2 weeks post treatment to avoid prolong swelling
> Avoid make up for 12 hours
> Ice pack and cold compresses can be beneficial for reducing swelling
> Over the counter medications to reduce swelling includes ibuprofen and anti-histamines can also be beneficial if able to take.
> A review appointment is always scheduled 2-3 weeks after the treatment to ensure you are happy with your results and have no concerns.
